Afternoon tea is a chance to truly relax and take some time to re-charge your batteries.  Come join us for social chat, light-hearted conversation and a break from work and any serious topic of conversation.   Bring your friends!!

A Letter from our President

March 20, 2013

To all officers and members of OFWC,

First of all, let me wish everyone a warm 2013.

I am pleased to announce that our Election concluded on March 16, 2013, and let's all wish the newly elected officers of Ontario Filipino Women's Club (please see attached list of officers)

As you are aware, OFWC’s monthly meeting are still being held at Wellesley Community Center at the corner of Wellesley and Sherbourne Streets every 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00 PM – 4 :00 PM. Please make an effort to attend the monthly meeting to keep you updated of all issues, concerns and activities lined-up for the year 2013. Your invaluable input during the meeting discussion is appreciated at all times especially the elected officers.

The next upcoming event is the exciting "English Tea Party" event scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. This will be a special occasion for everyone to enjoy some traditional fine teas, sumptuous spread of delicate finger sandwiches and baked goodies. There will be dancing and fun games, too! Everyone is enjoined to come in their floral Spring dress and nice suitable tea party hats. Minimum $5.00 donation is appreciated.

I would also like to remind everybody to renew your membership FEE for only $5.00/year. You may send your cheque payment payable to ONTARIO FILIPINO WOMEN’S CLUB and mail it to: 235 Grandravine Drive, Unit 803, and North York, Ontario M3N 1J2. Attached is a self-addressed return envelope for your convenience.

Also, you will note on the attached Activities for year 2013, all the special events line-up for this year – so please mark your calendar!

Lastly, I am excited to announce that our association is growing and a significant number of new members have registered last year and beginning of 2013. Thank you once again who participated during our recent successful OFWC major events – OFWC 30th Anniversary Masquerade Ball and 2012 Christmas Party. Thank you for your trust and we are counting on your continued support as always.

Trip to Midland (Martyrs Shrine-Filipino Day)

Every year Martyrs Shrine host pilgrimages. This past Saturday, August 6, 2011 it was Filipino Day. On our way to the Shrine guest were treated with a light breakfast that was provided by Annabelle,   Bianca & OFWC . While officers were handing out breakfeast, 50/50 Raffle were being sold. 5 people won cash prizes. Thousands of filipinos across Ontario congregate here for a mass. The 1st mass was held inside the church and was conducted in english the 2nd mass was held outside on the lawn and was conducted in tagalog.

After the mass we all went back to the bus to have some lunch also provided by Annabelle & OFWC. Once everyone was finished with lunch we made our way to Casino Rama. We spent about 5 hours at the casino. Everyone seemed to enjoy even though the casino won this time haha.

On behalf of all the OFWC Officers we would like to THANK everyone who came and supported us on this yearly event. We hope you enjoyed and we hope you join us next year and the following years.

We would also like to invite everyone to our next major event. Please come and join us as we celebrate our 29th Anniversary on Saturday September 24, 2011 6pm @ The Royal Canadian Legion Club 9 Dawes Rd. Toronto.

Tickets are $25.00 each which includes a delicious dinner buffet, great music as we enjoy a night of dancing and a special presentation when we crown our 2011 OFWC Queen.

Mabuhay Festival 2011

A couple of officers & members attended the One Kapamilya sa Mabuhay Festival @ the Metro Toronto Convention Center this past Saturday, July 23, 2011. There were a lot of things to see and do, from watching a beautiful fashion show which included beach wear, formal, casual, & wedding attire. A singing competition with local talents, some TFC ABS-CBN celebrities took to the stage to entertain us and of course the festival would not be complete without enjoying some delicious filipino food.

We have a monthly meeting every 3rd Saturday of the month @ sherbourne community center from 1-4pm.

Casino Rama Trip

On April 3rd, 2011 We held a successful casino trip to Casino Rama. While an exciting movie was playing on the overhead TV's OFWC officers were passing out food and drinks to our guests. We had a 50/50 drawing where 4 people won. Our 1st winner won a Victoria's Secret prize pack which included scented body lotion, body wash & perfume. Our 2nd & 3rd winners each won a ticket to The Green Living Show that is being held at the Direct Energy Center from April 15- 17 where they can shop, eat, play and learn about living a greener life. Our last winner of course won a cash prize.

OFWC Officers would like to thank those who came! We hope you enjoyed the trip and we hope you can come and join us on our future activities.

Cerena, Marite, Maria, Rosie, Lori-Anne, Norimae, and Milagros. Welcome & Thank you for joining The Ontario Filipino Women's Club. We hope to see you all at our monthly meetings and also at our other activities that we have lined up for the year.

Next activity, Our annual Spring Dinner dance is being held on Saturday May 14, 2011 at the Canadian Legion Dawes Hall.

Post Valentines Day Party

Our post Valentines day party was held on February 19, 2011 after our monthly meeting. 

Rebecca Reyes Bantay, Trining Miemban & Virginia Soriano were our 3 contestants for Ms. Valentine 2011.The winner was chosen by loudest applause and the honor went to Mrs. Trining Miemban, she won a beautiful gift bag which included fragrant toiletries from Victoria's Secret. The gift bag was generously donated by our Treasurer Belinda Sison. She also won a prize pack from Mary Kay generously donated by Celsa Kay (Independent Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics) Congratulations Mrs. Miemban! and Thank you for gracing us with a dance.
